Leader of Bakassi Legislative Assembly Supports Pupils of Gov’t Primary School, Ekpri Ikang

In a bid to promote education and foster community development, the Leader of the 7th Bakassi Legislative Assembly, in collaboration with the Thomas Andrew Foundation and other stakeholders, on Monday organized an empowerment initiative for pupils of Government Primary School, Ekpri Ikang. The event, tagged “Championing Community Needs 1.0”, was part of the Assembly’s Back to School Project (B2SP) and aimed to inspire young learners to prioritize education, foster mutual respect, and embrace peaceful coexistence NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of 1,000 copies of educational materials and the payment of school fees for two terms for 16 pupils, showcasing a strong commitment to supporting education in the community.

During the event, councillors took turns delivering motivational messages. Hon. Ene Edet, Councillor representing Ward 4, encouraged the pupils to excel academically and promised to sponsor those who achieve first position in their classes this term. Hon. Miriam Etim Okon of Ward 3 underscored the importance of obedience and hard work. She assured the pupils of sponsorship for those who secure second positions in their classes. Hon. Joseph Orok of Ward 2 and Hon. Prince Mkpeti of Ward 6 as well as the Deputy Leader of Bakassi’s Legislature also echoed similar sentiments, urging the children to take their studies seriously and become worthy ambassadors of their various community. 

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Clara Asuquo, the Director of Education for Bakassi, commended the Assembly and the Thomas Andrew Foundation for their thoughtful intervention, emphasizing that education is the bedrock of sustainable development.

The occasion concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Theresa Archibong Effiong, a teacher at the school, who lauded the organizers for choosing Government Primary School, Ekpri Ikang, as the beneficiary of this impactful project. Pupil David Dennis Edet also expressed gratitude on behalf of his peers, thanking the Legislative Assembly and the Thomas Andrew Foundation for their generosity and support.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were the Leader of Bakassi Legislative Assembly Rt. Hon. Grace Bassey, Deputy Leader Mkpeti; Hon. Okon, Hon. Edet, Hon. Orok, all teachers of Government Primary School, and members of the Thomas Andrew Foundation.

According to Leader Grace Bassey, “Championing Community Needs” is an initiative aimed at investing in the all-round development of constituency members especially young minds of the community for a brighter future.
