The 10th edition of the highly anticipated Elicris Cups National Table Tennis Top 32 Invitational Championships is set to take place at the Sir Chief Molade Okoya Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from December 23 to 24, 2024. Organized by the Lagos State Table Tennis Association under the auspices of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation and sponsored by the BAA Foundation, this premier competition promises a thrilling showcase of Nigeria’s finest table tennis talents NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
Among the standout participants is Hope Udoaka, a rising star from Canaan Table Tennis Club (Canaan TTC), who has been invited to compete in the U-19 Girls Singles category. Known for her exceptional skill and dedication, Udoaka will face off against some of the nation’s top young talents, including Aishat Abdulwaheed from Kaduna Club and Khadijat Musa from Osun State.
The championship will feature 32 players in each category, competing in a two-stage format. The first stage will see players divided into eight groups for round-robin matches, with two top players from each group advancing to the main draw. Matches will transition from the best of five games in the initial stages to the best of seven games in the semifinals and finals.
Udoaka, who has shown consistent form this season, is expected to bring her A-game to the table, representing not only Canaan TTC but also the Cross River State region with pride.
The competition offers an impressive total prize pool of ₦3,000,000, with the Women’s Singles champion taking home ₦500,000. Additional awards include cash prizes for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the Best Dressed Male and Female players, adding excitement to this landmark 10th edition.
Speaking about the event, competition manager Peters Segun emphasized the importance of the championship in nurturing young talent: “This tournament is a platform for identifying and rewarding excellence in table tennis, particularly among Nigeria’s youth.”
