CROSS RIVER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES THE BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE FUND
The bill is to create fund that would organize the provision of infrastructure in the State.
The law also has the provision for concession with corporate entities or individuals.
The bill would also create a room for members of the committee to liaise with investment /development partners.
Advantages of the Establishment of the Cross River Infrastructure Fund
The fund is going to provide a forum for organized planning and provision of infrastructure for the People of Cross River State.
It can be recalled that the colonial economy did not care about the development of Nigeria. They left behind dis-articulated economy, dis-articulated transport system etc.
All the colonial government cared about was to politically dominate and economically exploit the Nigerian People.
What the House is seeking is to draw the law to have an organized post colonial development system.
The House is calling on all Nigerians, home and in the diaspora, to identify with this Window of transformation to see how Cross River State can be taken to the next level.
It is clear that the present Governor, Senator Ben Ayade equally has a deep commitment to open up Cross River State.
It is in line with his bold and visionary ideas that the House is seeking to assist towards expanding the window of change that has hit the Country.
Some of the projects the infrastructure bill seek to fund is the funding of Calabar, Obudu, Ikom Super Highway, Cross River Deep Sea Port, which are in the pipeline.
We therefore call on our well wishers to partner with the government of Cross River State in order to meet with the yearning of our People.
God bless!
Hon Nelson Ofem
