The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Joseph Bassey has sponsored a Bill for the Establishment of a Water Front Infrastructure Management Agency

The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly , Rt. Hon Joseph Bassey has  sponsored a Bill for  the Establishment of the Water Front Infrastructure Management Agency in the State .

He said due to the  porosity of the Cross River State Waterways, it was necessary for the State Government to establish an Agency that will look into the activities of the waterfront of the State.

He also pointed that if established, the Agency will create huge revenue for government due to its accessibility to neighboring countries of Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon and other sister States that border the Cross River Waterways.

The Deputy Speaker also opined that if the Agency is created, it will check mate the high level kidnapping, robbery, killings on the waterways in the State. 

He further stated that the Agency will stand as a means of alleviating poverty in the State amongst the teeming youths of the State who are jobless. He opined that if created, the Agency will afford the youths of the State gainful employment. Stressing that it will reduce crime and other social vices once young men and women are engaged by the Agency.

Rt. Hon Bassey, pledged his support on the signature projects of the State Governor, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade, describing it as timely, welcoming, important and of great importance toward the upliftment of the economic well being of the People of the State.
