“I am eager to train with my team-mates and to incorporate myself into the group here. I know it’s a fight against time because there is not so long until the end of the season, but I am very keen to get started.
“The first few days have been very important. To be back in Europe again at a big club like Chelsea is a dream come true. I’m very happy to be here because I have worked very hard for the last three years in Brazil.”
“I feel very good physically,” Pato said.
“Obviously as a player you need game-time to be at your best but I feel prepared, I have been training well, and hopefully with games and time I can adapt.
“I know I only have a few months until the end of the season but what I can promise is that I am prepared to play to the best of my ability to help during the few months left of the campaign.”
These are the words of the newly signed Brazilian 'Alexandre Pato' from Sao Paulo where he netted 26 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions. Despite his affirmation of fitness, Chelsea has feared he may not be fit enough to play for the club until after six weeks. Chelsea, Guus Hiddink has revealed that 26-year-old Brazilian is essentially in his pre-season at the moment, with the Blues devising a special training programme to build up his fitness.
This is coming after outstanding Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma who sustained an injury in the game against Manchester United has been confirmed facing six months out of action. The Brazilian Alexandre Pato has already been included in the Champions League squad for the round of 16. A big blow for Chelsea as they prepare to salvage the remaining part of their disastrous season.
If truly Chelsea regarded him been not been fit enough, why gamble him to be in the Champions League squad?
