In the wee hours of this morning, an accident occurred along Lokoja-Okene road which ended the lives of 4 passengers.
According to our source, the victims were only a few among the 14 people that were involved in the fatal accident involving two J5 buses with registration numbers Katsina KZR 321 ZT and Plateau XB 609 JTA .
However, the Kogi State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Ugboma confirmed the incident. He also informed that several other persons were critically injured as a result of the accident while 3 other persons only escaped by an unhurt.
The FRSC commander added that the accident occured somewhere along Irepena at about 5:00 a.m this morning that the cause must have been Stress and sleeping on the steering by the drivers.
Our correspondence informed that as at now, all the injured victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja for urgent treatment.
This is indeed disheartening as the families of the victims would be in serious Agony even as we speak.
We cannot imagine what they are going through at the moment as we cannot but sympathise with them while suggesting that all road users and drivers should adhere to road safety rules.
Such acts of sleeping while driving or any other actions that could hamper Safety on roads should be dropped.
