The Special Adviser, Dr. (Mrs.) Betta Edu yesterday 17th February, 2016 paid a courtesy visit to Brigadier General Sani Muhammed, to thank the army for the support given to the department so far and seek more support and collaboration to reach some security comprised, hard-to-reach Areas within the state.
In her remarks, she thanked the Brigadier General for his prompt professional response during the state measles immunization exercise at riverine areas and Bakassi creeks. She informed the General of the National Immunization plus days for Polio. This according to her will help keep the state Polio-free.
She mention maternal, new born and child health week coming up in March, seeking their full participation and support which is in line with the State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade resolved to ensure quality healthcare delivery and access in the state.
The dynamic SA further promised to colaborate with the Army to improve their routine immunisation stock and provide some medical commodities to them. According to the S.A, long lasting insecticide treated nets, Rapid diagnosis test and all other comodities available will be provided to the army clinic to enable them tackle malaria and ensuring all the children in Barracks are immunize. Finally she hailed the army who have been very supportive in the society, assuring them that their medical personnels will be considered for capacity building.
The Commander 13 Brigade, Brig.Gen Sani Mohammed responded by giving kudos to Senator. Prof Ben Ayade and admonishing the S.A for her energetic thrive in ensuring a society devoid of diseases. The calm, humble and erudite General in his words hailed the S.A passion for her job and informed her of his personal interest for medical unit of 13 brigade. The general who is a specialist in bio-medical , hailed the S.A for her dedication in ensuring quality health care delivery to state.
He officially requested for partnership and collaboration between the department of Community and Primary Health Care and the Army Medical Unit so they can benefit from state health programmes, advocacy and awareness campaign on health issues like diarrhoea and Lassa fever. He thanked Governor Ben Ayade for appointing the S.A, describing her as very dodged and vibrant.
Dr Iwara Iwara, State Director Malaria Programmes thanked the commander and his officials for the warm reception accorded to them.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of Award of honour by 13 Brigade Nigerian Army to the Special Adviser, Dr Betta Edu.
