About the beginning of this month, there was the story about 14 years old girl child, Ese Rita Oruru, from Bayelsa State who was abducted by Yunusa Dahiru, alias Yellow but rescued by the Police in Kano.
Cross River born politician, legal practitioner and poet choose to through his art bear his mind on the ongoing saga. Read what he said:
*ABANDONED CHILD
(For 13 year old Ese Oruru: abducted and defiled)
Women keep sweeping our streets,
Just to make us clean,
Hoping against hope,
Managing their meagre earnings,
To educate their children at home.
This mountain is steep,
The wounds, also deep,
With tattered uniforms, they roam the streets,
School children now saunter about –
Without their dreams.
The unknown Ugep boy,
Survives by hawking toys,
He no more attends school,
While we stand aloof.
The promising student,
Now speaks with a local accent,
Another future saint,
Soaked in redundant paint.
He was mugged and murdered;
She was abducted by Yunusa Dahihu Bala,
Defiled and forcefully made a woman.
There are tears in Heaven,
In honour of the abandoned child.
