Bobby Ilam, a successful crime detector in West Virginia in the United States popularly referred to as Kpans B Kpans especially on social media, is from the same local government area, Obudu, as the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade. In fact, their family houses are situated on the same street, few blocks apart each other.
Considering the gargantuan projections of the Ben Ayade led CRS government as well as the meagre resources accruing to the state, the realisability of his major projects are perceived to be very slim. This has incited both critics and fans of the present administration to pooh pooh some policies and programmes of the state government. The most recent being that of Ilam, who is a near kinsman to His Excellency.
Normally, Ilam is supposed to be defending or rationalising his 'brother's' activities in government but, alas, the reverse is the case. What follows is Ilam's full, unedited and unabridged version of his recent letter to His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State as received by Negroid Haven.
*An Open letter to the Governor of Cross River State.
Sen. Ben Ayade,
The Executive Governor,
Cross River State.
Sir,
I am writing to acknowledge you for your vision and good work. I will also like to use this opportunity to suggest that you rethink the prospects of actualizing some of your signature projects, and maybe downsize some of them to effectuate with the limited resources available.
This has become necessary for the state to honestly address its budget and create conducive plans that would meet its financial capacity, necessary to kick start economic growth and job creation in the state. I strongly appreciate your vision for the people. Your efforts are remarkably outstanding, and your people will be forever grateful for your care.
Your people; both home and abroad strongly empathize with the emotion surrounding this issue, because nearly all of us have been forced to make similar comments regarding the face of the harsh economic reality plagued by the state. It is no lie to anyone that our state is going through tough times due to the heavy debt profile. I am confident that by having this project in a smaller measure, it would help to create a soft landing for your dreams, and also help you to build a more stable economy for Cross River and its people
Thank you for your anticipated resonse to these concerns and for your service to the state.
Sincerely
Bobby Ilam
CJ
In the above letter, Ilam seem to be making the point that a state whose annual generated revenue is pegged at N100 billion, would find it quite difficult to push successfully through policies and programmes that are financially gargantuan.
For instance, before the hike in exchange rates, Ayade's signature projects comprising the 240km dual carriage super high way and the Bakassi Deep Seaport were pegged at N900 billion; now considering the fact that preceding state administrations of Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke left the state at a N413 billion, with what genius will Ayade translate some of his policies and programmes to concrete realities? This is the million dollars question begging for urgent attention.
We are calling on Ayade to give his policies and programmes a rethink or credibly demonstrate the realisability of his executive projections.
