I read with great shock that fuel is sold for 210 Naira in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State on the Facebook timeline of Chief Ray Ugba Morphy. While I sympathize with the independent marketers for the scarcity of fuel in the country, I condemn their uncharitable and callous nature of handling the situation.
It is no news that petroleum product in the country are scarce but the idea of selling products at a very high rate is lampoonable and shows the height of desperation by these independent marketers to make money.
It can be recalled that before the fuel scarcity started, these marketers sold above the government price of 86.50 Naira. Most of them sold at 100 – 150 Naira a litre. Causing more difficulty for our people. In a town where there is no money. Where those residing there are predominantly civil servants and farmers shows that these marketers do not have a sense of sympathy or pity for our people.
While I condemn this injustice and wicked act, I call on all leaders of Ogoja, to rise up against the extortion of our people by these marketers and petrol vendors. We can not close our eyes while a few loot from our poor masses in Ogoja.
