The 8th Cross River State House of Assembly yesterday 7 June resumed plenary session sequel to having successfully completing its First Quarter Oversight Function Exercise.
At the plenary, the 8th Assembly will considered 2 motions:
1. The question of Cattle Grazing in Cross River State.
2. Concern about the Spate of Insecurity and communal clashes in the state.
The House also took Notice 7 New bills and 5 Amendments to existing Legislations.
The House plenary session was preceded by an Executive session to receive reports on the State Revenue Performance from its adhoc committees.
With regards to the first motion, it will be recalled that media houses across the country had reported that the Hausa community in the state had requested the provision of grazing reserves from His Excellency the Governor of the state. So, the House will be contemplating a motion of such in view of its powers as enshrined in the concurrent list of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended.
On the second motion, it will be recalled that yesterday the governor of the state had constituted a panel of inquiry into the incidents of communal wars in the state headed by the former Deputy Governor of the state, Barr Efiok Cobham.
