John Gaul Lebo: the Face of a Compromised Speaker

Those who get power through the back door come embarrassing themselves and their constituents. The issue of John Gaul Lebo is not a different one. No wonder he disgracefully commented that Calabar is dirty because Ayade is paying salaries earlier than usual. The implication is that Cross River State citizens are richer and eat more in Ayade's government. This is an assault on the sensibilities of Ayade's political appointees that have been owed for months with no hope of payment.

Under the watch of John Gaul Lebo, the Cross River State House of Assembly has not sat for months due to poor financing. The office is not funded and cannot run. Some months ago the House of Assembly closed sitting for power failure. Non of the bills passed by the House has been published.

On the heels of non funding, John Gaul Lebo still shamelessly justified the non funding of the house on the low allocation to the state. Meanwhile John Gaul Lebo is seen facilitating the borrowing of funds by the Ayade's government. Available information has it that the members of the House got infuriated when Ayade brought a bill for more borrowing of money even when they have been owed their statutory allowance and sitting allowance. At no point in history has the legislators been starved of funds like today under the inept leadership of John Gaul Lebo.

While John Gaul Lebo has reduced himself to Frank Ayade's house boy, for crumbs from the table of Ayade, the rest of the legislators are left hungry.

Under John Gaul Lebo the oversight function of the legislators have been sacrificed for peanuts. With foundations destroyed how far can this conspiracy go? No government starves its political appointees like the Ayade's government.
