I have taken considerate time to read/study the 37-page Government Sentencing Memorandum of the case: United States of America v. William J. Jefferson (defendant) received from Premium Times Newspaper.
According to the document, $170,000 was transferred from a Nigeria account with name: Aisha Buhari to a U.S account with the name: ANJ Group, LLC.
The document also explained that Jefferson's dealings with Nigeria is through a nominee company in Nigeria called Netlink Digital Television (NDTV) which has Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu (the younger brother of Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, the incumbent Minister of State for Petroleum) as an executive.
Accordingly, the document said Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu has testified in U.S. in favour of the allegation.
EFCC: EFCC had long froze Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu's account but has, as at yesterday denied the President's wife is not Jefferson/Dumebi's culprit.
Who and where is the culprit?
It would be recalled that the U.S Justice Department had at the time requested the EFCC through a letter with Ref: MEW: DPW:KDL:AV 1 File 182.23818 dated June 22, 2006 to investigate Mrs. Aisha M. Buhari and others linked with money laundry, racketeering and payoff of Congressman Jefferson. But court documents shows that Justice Department never received EFCC reports in respect to Mrs. Aisha Buhari.
I am so amazed that same EFCC leadership which failed to provide U.S with the requisite information on Aisha Buhari, is swift to go on the pages of newspaper to confirm/deny that the President's wife is not the looked-for.
Former EFCC chair, Ibrahim Lamorde said: "I can tell you authoritatively that the Aisha Buhari named in that case is not President Buhari’s wife. It is another Aisha Buhari entirely."
Then I asked: "Who then is the Aisha Buhari in Jefferson's case? Where is she? And, why have you people refused to send her details to U.S whereas you have her I.D credentials that certified that she is not the President's wife?
