The Cross rivers state governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade is no doubt set to combat criminals within the Paradise City of calabar.
According to information available to NHB news desk from a reliable source, His Excellency,Gov. Ben Ayade did yesterday Friday 9th of July, read out what is now known as the "Riot Act" to criminals in the State.
He asserted that it is in the best interest of criminals and all criminally minded persons to migrate out of the Paradise city to wherever else they deem fit as their nefarious activities will not be condoned neither will it go unpunished.
The Governor who personally led and paraded his newly "Operation Show Force" men in uniform told Newsmen that his administration is determined to not just clamp down but also to flush out criminals from every nook and cranny of their respective hideouts in Cross river.
His excellency, while addressing newsmen at the Peace Park, in Calabar, shortly after a 5-hour security council meeting, as accompanied by the service commanders cum the SSA (State Security Adviser) unveiled his new security agenda which is aimed at curbing the emerging threats within the state as it bothers on peace and security.
He spoke regrettably on the fact that criminally minded individuals have infiltrated the state from neighbouring states and added that they must as a matter of urgency and necessity be eradicated.
In his words:
“We have identified the homes of the kingpins, we have the coordinates of their armoury, we have a clear picture of their modus operandi and we are working on a massive attack, we are coming after them".
“We have understood the basis of this crime, we have names, security reports of specific people, their agents, and their modus operandi have been well analysed by security commanders and we are confident that the action you will see in a matter of days to come, will be different.”
Ayade added that:
“Cross River is known as the home state of tourism, Calabar is known as the destination for African hospitality, anything that will impinge on the integrity, knowledge, wealth and values of the state must be resisted by Cross riverians and Nigerians. “
Gov. Ayade later took solace in the fact that, according to first hand reports from the security officials of the state, a total of 47 criminals have been arrested in the wake of the recent security threats in the state capital and that not even one of them is a Cross riverian.
This goes to confirm his earlier suspicion and also underscores his faith in the fact that the culture, integrity, character and honour of the people of Cross river have not been adulterated.
