Commissioner Asibong flaunts Fyodor Urine Malaria Test

Following the successful development of the Fyodor Urine Malaria Test (UMT) that has been approved and registered by NAFDAC (Reg No 03-3185), the state Ministry of Health has joined various agencies of the Federal Government to adopt Fyodor Urine Malaria Test (UMT) as a product that can improve patient outcome.

The adoption of Fyodor Urine Malaria Test by the state Ministry of Health took place recently when some workers of Fyodor Biotechnologies (Nig) Ltd led by Victoria Enwemadu, Pharm D., Head of Projects visited the State Commissioner for Health, Dr (Mrs) Inyang Asibong to introduce the Fyodor Urine Malaria Test product that will markly and positively impact the way Malaria is diagnosed and treated in Nigeria and world wide.

Receiving the product, Dr Asibong said "We understand companies work hard to create a product, and your company has done that, your product has been approved and registered by NAFDAC after stages of product awareness, product interest, product evaluation, product trial and adoption by various agencies of the Federal Government. With the establishment of pharmaceutical company in Calabar by His Excellency, Senator Prof Benedict Ayade, we will have more products like this that will have impact on the wider aspects of the health care delivery mostly at the local level. UMT is a product that can improve patient outcome, we will take the initiative and adopt a truly marketing – oriented approach that will make a real impact on the quality and cost of delivery care ".

Also recommending the product, Mr Jeffrey Adamade, PA to the Governor's wife,  Her Excellency, Dr (Mrs) Linda Ayade on Health initiative said, "Her Excellency welcomed the initiative, it is indeed an economic savings and personnel efficiencies in managing patients with Malaria, this will ensure only patients with Malaria are treated appropriately and those fevers not due to Malaria are appropriately investigated, it is a plus to health care services".

Earlier, before demonstrating how the product can be used in less than 25 minutes,Victoria Enwemadu, Pharm D, head of projects said" The UMT is the first ever non blood test for Malaria anywhere in the world, and a game changer for Cross River State, Nigeria and the global Malaria control effort. We are confident that UMT will add value to the way fever and Malaria cases are managed in the health care facilities of Cross River State.
