Yesterday, 11 October was marked by the United Nations as the International Day of the Girl Child. This year’s theme was: 'Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: A Global Girl Data Movement'.
In what may be described as a seminal social media thread on the girl child, Mr Anthony Bissong Attah, who incidentally is the State Leader of Young Democratic Party (YDP) in Cross River called for creating the necessary environment that allows for excellent cultivation of values among our girl children. He particularly made reference to his own daughter Samantha whom he refers to a princess. Excerpt:
'Before they become the women the world will like to celebrate, let's create the necessary environment that cultivates the virtues that will produce a new edition of Proverbs 31 (The virtuous woman).
'Release the girl child and launch her into her God ordained purpose on earth.
