Usani Usani slammed over appointment of ‘northerner’ into NDDC

Yakurr, Cross River-born federal Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, was yesterday slammed by Nigerians over the latter’s appointment of a Nigerian from the ‘northern’ extraction of the country as head of a programme of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

Yesterday, about 11:00PM Pst Usani took to his social media account, namely Facebook to announce the appointment of one Tikari Y. Danjuma as the Coordinator of Niger Delta Riverine. In his own words, ‘I hereby appoint Tikari Y. Danjuma the Coordinator of Niger Delta Riverine Protection Programme. This appointment takes effect immediately’. 

 This announcement initiated outright acerbic criticism from Nigerian probably across board against the minister. Some queried what the business of a ‘northern’ Nigerian was in a ‘southern ministry’, others tagged Pst Usani as being crazy, some thought the decision was a mistake, another held the opinion that Pst. Usani’s ministry is a federal ministry and so any Nigerian is eligible for appointment into it however there’s was a rebuttal claiming in the proposed North East Development Commission (NEDC) no southerner will be appointed. Even the Senate didn’t approve non Niger Deltan as board members of NDDC yet a minister will appoint a non Niger Deltan over our issue. Aniefiok Jonah, you lack decorum. You are so comfortable on Facebook exhibiting your ill manner? It’s obvious you need psychiatric examination because it’s no all mad people that roam. The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs is a federal ministry,with all it’s federal civil service structures, appointments and positions is not restricted to indigenes of the Niger Delta only,as the FCT ministry employs people from every part of the country, stop parading ignorance.

*Does the reader think Pst Usani got it wrong in appointing a ‘northerner’  to head a Niger Delta Affairs programme? Doesn’t the reader think that Pst Usani was being detrabilise in making this appointment? Is it fair to continuously polarise this country on religious, regional and ethnic grounds?

It seem to me that the decision to announce his appointment on social media was deliberate to incite public reaction because Pst Usani would/could as a well refused to announce it, keeping silent and all may have went well. Was Minister Usani demonstrating a dimension to the much-talked about change, the ‘change that must begin with me’? Is Usani by this action championing the course of national unity and integration?

However, feelers suggests that Mr T Y Danjuma who may be rightly T. M. Danjuma is from Delta State, against suspicion that he is from the northern geopolitical zone. NegroidHaven is researching on that. Details will be out soon
