As the Gender equality bill passes second reading at the senate house of assembly, Pres.Buhari seems unperturbed about the the arguments by the gender activists for fairness and equal opportunity to be accorded the feminine folk.

His recent remark about his wife (Aisha Buhari) belonging to the Kitchen' is no doubt making rounds and front pages of leading print  media.

According to Buhari who reacted to his wife’s BBC interview, informed that his wife is "condemned" to his kitchen, and hence, has no such temerity to question his leadership style and policies.

President Buhari said this during a joint press briefing with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, asserted that he had a manly authority over his wife, that she is no match to his ideas and wisdom as a Man.

According to President Buhari,

“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.

“So I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition, because in the end I have succeeded. It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.”

Taking on President Buhari’s surprising response, Chief Dele Momodu,  publisher of Ovation magazine, criticized  pres. Buhari by informing that it is disheartening that the president is still thinking within the box. In his words, it is “disgraceful” for the President to have made such assertion.

Dele Momodu continues:

“If the President really said that his wife belongs in his kitchen and his bedroom and his other bedroom, it is highly disgraceful".

Such Male Chauvinist mindset demonstrated by the president of the federal republic has raised so much dust and counter reactions as Nigerians wonder how on earth would Pres. Buhari make such derogatory remark about his wife especially on a public platform.

Should the president be taken seriously or no? Is his statement about the feminine folk correct and sound or not? Tell us your take on this matter.
