It's no more news that of the bloated, too-costly-to-maintain and too-difficult-to-control near-1,000 appointees of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Ben Ayade, two and a very negligible few, if there by any others, stands out in terms of performance and positive impact, namely, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong and Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu.
While one may have disappointingly concluded that no other good news would come out of this Nazareth-of-a-state administration, yesterday the attention of Cross Riverians were drawn to yet another light, beaming rather shyly in the simmering darkness of a state administration. This radiance comes from the Department of New City Development particularly from the Office of the Director General of this government department as manned by Mr Kjay Jedy-Agba. Even notably acerbic critics of the present state government can't deny this illustrious Obudu son, younger sibling to Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba the tag of relevance. What then has Mr Jedy-Agba actually done to deserve this commendation despite the plethora of condemnations continually been heaped on this government beginning from the head to its tail?
The self-effacing Jedy-Agba is responsible for the citing of the recently commissioned Army Housing Scheme by Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to Calabar, Cross River State; he brokered between CRSG and the Office of the Inspector General of Nigerian Police Force to sow police uniforms through the shrouded-in-mystery Cross River Textile Industry & Garment Factory. A leading critic of the government of Gov. Ayade, Mr Ifere Paul, had this to say about Mr. Jedy-Agba:
'Mr K-Jay Agba has also attracted to Cross River State, interest by the Nigeria Army to develop a ranch resort in Obudu. The deal for the ranch and a share stake in the management of the present Obudu Cattle Ranch and Ranch Resort is in the brewing.
'He has also presented a working template on a police housing development scheme or new city in Cross River State through the Inspector General of Police'.
It's therefore evident that Mr. Kjay Jedy-Agba is a blessing to an ill-fated state government. As Mr Jedy-Agba join the ranks of performing aides of Governor Ben Ayade especially Commissioner Inyang Asibong and Director General Betta Edu I wish to congratulate him. While Cross Riverians are expecting more from Mr Jedy-Agba I also wish to encourage those other aides who may actually be working but are hardly read about or heard. Posterity will see you. To those who are there by reason of the inglorious politics of 'stomach infrastructure' be rest assured that the condemnation by posterity is unassailable.
Congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade for getting it right in the Department of New City Development, CRS and happy birthday in arrears to Kjay Jedy-Agba.
