Last Friday the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency was at the University of Calabar Conference center following an invite from Impact Leadership Club to speak to students in University of Calabar on leadership.

Dr Edu who mounted the podium amidst cheers and chants from the crowd, spoke deeply and passionately to the students; "As a leader you must seek daily to prefer solutions to the society around you. Your ability to identify needs, gaps and take responsibility for meeting those needs makes you a leader. There is no box!  Life doesn't provide you a box to think within, think of solutions without limitations", She admonished the student to study hard, she said life throws new challenges at you every day but like her Governor Sen. Ben Ayade will say, when you throw your mind above a situation, your body will follow: "always seek to do something new everyday, something with positive impact… Start small, start where you are, stop making excuses, look for the right set of persons that can help you and above all put your trust in God. Anyone who serves God can never be put to shame!"

She took them through the story of her life and what God has helped her accomplish in few years. Urging them to set targets and goals, and stay focused working at it.  Let no one tell you, you are not good enough or you are too small or you are inexperienced or you are a woman.. In fact all those things mentioned are advantages because you are green and ready to give it your all,  motivate yourself… be innovative and stay exceptional!

A standing ovation ushered her out of the podium with students chanting "Leader deh pass Leader..ayaya… But Betta own too much ohhhh ayaya"!

Speaking the president of ILC said the essence of this event is to build leaders that can create positive impact in our time. He said most of our young ones have lost focus and are spending valuable time on social media carrying out activities that do not help their studies or future. He noted that young students are involved in vices that are detrimental to them and as such need to get motivated to think right and do right.  He said Dr Betta Edu was invited based on her track records when she was a Vice President of SUG in UNICAL.  He said her legacy in female leadership forum etc is still evident  In UNICAL. He noted that she started from UNICAL and today she is taking Nigeria by storm as one of the most influential persons under 40 years by national rating. They thanked her for her strong words of advice urging her to do more and carry the youths along as she remains an inspiration to this generation.

The event which was sponsored by indome; featured debates, from all faculty in UNICAL, performance by young artist in UNICAL and speeches by other motivational speakers. Staff,  SUG officials and students from all faculties were present.
