L-R: Odok, Ayade and Ikem

Barr. Venatius Ikem, a former national Publicity Secretary of the now opposition political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Commissioner in the Donald Duke-led state administration has recently expressed the position that the ongoing tour of two senatorial districts of the state by His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Ben Ayade, is inspired by what he refers to as ‘intense criticism’.
Barr Ikem’s perception was made known yesterday via his social media account where he was seen to be reacting to a press statement announcing the itinerary of the tour of the governor.
The embattled former Publicity Secretary who expressed reservations over the authenticity of the tour of the state boss asked a rhetorical question about who was winning in terms of how the state should be run, prayed that the overall positive effect should be to the masses, and not in view of 9 December Supreme Court judgement anticipated to determine the fate of the Governor.
In his own words, ‘Who is winning? The yea sayers? The critics? Or the people? Time will tell…While there is no doubt that these reactions are for all intents and purposes a response to intense criticism, there is still doubt as to their authenticity. But we pray for the best returns for the people, beyond the apprehensions of Dec, 9th!’
In a similar vein, another vocal opposition voice in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Barr. Joseph Odok, gloried over the news of Gov Ayade embarking on the tour of the senatorial districts. According Barr. Odok the governor makes him a hero every day. For him His Excellency’s intention to embark on the said tour is a response to criticism.
‘Ayade makes me a hero every day, our criticism is yielding propaganda from government. How I wish the governor will move beyond propaganda and settlement into solving real issues in the state’, Odok submitted.
It will be recalled that Gov Ayade has for the past 18 months seen to be traveling from one country to another in allege search for investors. In fact, of all the continents of the world where the governor has been junketeering to, only Australia has eluded him. In all his foreign tours, he either returns with an MoU(s) or foreign nationals masquerading to be investors.
