L-R: SSG Tina Agbor, error-full press release

In a 21st June press release from the Office of Secretary to the State Government of Cross River titled: ‘Ongoing Strike Action Embarked by the Organised Labour’, there are noticeable grammatical, etc blunders NegroidHaven has learnt.
The first is underlying a title to the letter whose phrasing is in capital case all through —ONGOING STRIKE ACTION EMBARKED BY THE ORGANISED LABOUR’. Barrister Agbor this is wrong. The correct form is —’Ongoing Strike Action Embarked by the Organised Labour‘ or ‘ONGOING STRIKE ACTION EMBARKED BY THE ORGANISED LABOUR’.

The second appears in the very first paragraph and second line of the said press release: there you find the phrase —’strike action’; I think Barrister Agbor intended saying ‘industrial action’ which implies — ‘period of time when workers stopwork in order to force an employer to agree to their demands’. There’s nothing like ‘strike action’ in English, maybe there’s in Boki or Law. Hmm!

In the first line of the second paragraph you regrettably find the phrase —’on patriotic’. Madam Agbor, it’s ‘unpatriotic’, please! You are bastardising someone’s language. Chai!

There are punctuation errors in abundance. In the paragraph labeled ‘1’ there’s no full stop(.), rather we have two dots in the succeeding paragraph labeled ‘2’. Barr. Agbor what do you really mean by this style of punctuation? The same thing occurs in paragraph ‘3’ and even the last paragraph did not enjoy the usual fullstop.

The above errors maybe the reason organised labour is refusing to listen to the SSG. I will suggest that the SSG retract the press release, correct the errors and resend it to them. They are most likely to give government a listening ear. Give it a try, please Madam.

Meanwhile, the corrections so effected are services offered not for free. I am charging the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Cross River State the sum of N5, 000, 000 only.
