The Dr James Okpiliya chaired Calabar University Electoral Committee (CUECO), the apex electoral body in the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Calabar has in a 2 June 2017 memo to 'All Post Graduate Students University of Calabar', in the 'Guidelines for 2016/2017 PGSG Elections' exclusively reserved 'for the female graduate students' the offices of Vice President and Treasurer NegroidHaven can report authoritatively.
However, the CUECO culled this guideline from the Constitution of Post Graduate Students Government of the University of Calabar which states in Article XII that:
(a) Any registered member shall be eligible to hold any of the offices outlined under Article (XI) of PGSG Constitution
(g) The office of Vice President and Treasurer are exclusive reserves for female graduate students.
In other words, choices office of President and others are the 'exclusive preserve of the male graduate students'. NegroidHaven is yet to find one female frowning at the provisions of the constitution or the CUECO endorsing it.
So much talk about gender. Women I deh!
Meanwhile, elections into designated offices for Post-graduate students election is billed to take place on Wednesday 12th July 2017. Recall that until now, PGSG had been outlawed/proscribed.
