When David Babachir Lawal, the now suspended SGF was accosted by a reporter in the State House few months ago, and told of his suspension by the 'presidency' he asked in utter disbelief and apparent arrogance; "who is the presidency?"
Many months down the line, and especially with the ominous absence of PMB, the question abides. But even faster than the former SGF would wish his question answered, Nigerians need to be given the answer now!!! …and for good reasons.
In the face of the Senate's ultimatum to the acting President YO, concerning Magu of the EFCC, the acting President for once, found his own voice and politely told the legislators to live with it.
AGF Malemi has come out to declare that the Acting President does not have the powers to speak for the presidency, as the opinions he expressed are his as a private citizen!!
And again we ask, who exactly is the 'presidency'?
The last time we had something this worrisome, was during the final days of late President Yar'adua, when a no-less inept, Michael Ka'ase Aondoaka was equally the AGF, (oh!, how Nigeria keep repeating horrible histories!!)
Michael Aondoaka!! You remember him? Or maybe you do remember his infamous dictum; that the then ailing and absent President Yar'adua, could rule as President from any part of the world, even from the grave?!!
Mohammed Malemi, another AGF, is in effect re-echoing the same position; that the cabal is in charge, and the acting President, so far as he is concerned, is not the 'presidency'!!!
That is a Lawyer, in fact, the chief law officer, the learned silk, standing the constitution, and indeed constitutionalism on its head!!
Before Chief Gani Fawehinmi died,(oh! bless his soul!) he prayed to God that 'may he never again, punish Nigeria with the likes of Michael Aondoaka in public office'. Obviously, God didn't answer that prayer. We just had something worse!
But we are watching, and keenly too.
Where ever this bumpy ride takes us.
Nigeria is indeed a theatre, …of absurdities.
