UNICAL PG Student Gov’t election: Profile of Comr. Uket, Abanda John, presidential candidate

Birth and Parentage:
Uket, Abanda John is a blue-blooded descendant of the Yanen’boh Oka of Ndayi in Ikpakapit of Ugep in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. He owes his ancestry to Oka Okeogum the Great, the founder of Ndayi and one of the principalities definens of Ikumapa-Ikpakapit Ward of Ugep. 
He was born in the late 80s to the family of Elder/Mr. Oyama and Alice Uket Oka of the aforementioned dynastic heritage. At his birth, he became the last of the numerous children of the parent. The father was a well-cultured polygamist. As such he has several step-mothers that are as lovely as the mother. In his family, there is no biological mother for every mother owes to every other child the responsibility the father owes to all the children.  
Education and academic strives
He had his primary education in the famous Presbyterian Primary School Ugep before crossing to the Presbyterian International Nursery School where he took and had his first school living certificate (FSLC). With the yearn to go further, he was enrolled into the celebrate St. Patrick’s Technical College Ugep. During his stay in this institute, he participated in many activities of the school as a bid to retain and sustain the school’s legacies. After his vocational training college three (VTC III), he wrote both the Junior WAEC and NABTEB. The success of this gave him admission into senior technical college one (ST 1). After three years in the senior technical of the college with specialization in mechanical engineering with a bent in drilling and fitting, he sat for the National Technical Certificate examination. Uket, Abanda later wrote the West African Examination Council in 2005. The colours here left with were not just flying but outstanding. 
Uket Abanda John had himself acquainted with the technological drive of the moment when shortly after his O’Level enroll, studied and backed a diploma in Information and Communication Technology in Blessed Computer Training Institute in 2005. The rating of the diploma certificate was remarkable. The sage also had to his credit he had, Diploma in Latin from the St. Joseph Major Seminary Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Iboom State in 2009.
More so, he is a graduate of the Department of Philosophy in the prestigious University of Calabar, Calabar. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy on 2014. Giving the ever growing desire he has to “KNOW” he advanced his studies in masters becoming one of the admitees of the 2015/2016 academic session.  At the moment, he has finished his course work and earnestly begun his research in Epistemology.  
Social life
As a homo socialis, there is no mincing of words in saying he fits in to any society he finds himself but lawfully. For him, all works and no socialization would not just make Uket dull but may caught short his life. As it is that it is only in living that socials are done he prefers to be alive and social.
Leadership Ladder
This is one who believes leadership is for service to people not the other way round. He holds tenaciously and convincingly the opinion that the essence of union is for the welfare of the people and not what is anti this. It is given this psychological conviction that he has been known to serve in several organizations and offices among which are:
*Library Prefect, St. Patrick’s Technical College Ugep
*Special Adviser to the President Students’ Union Government St. Joseph Major Seminary 2010
*Electoral Secretary National Association of Philosophy students, University of Calabar chapter 2011/2012
*Chief Whip National Association of Yakurr Students Worldwide (NAYS-WW) Parliament 
*Special Adviser and strategist to the President National Association of Yakurr Students Worldwide (NAYS-WW)
*Special Adviser on matters of general importance to the Central Senatorial Students Assembly (CENSSA) 2014/2015 government
*Human Resource Adviser to the Southern Cross River State Students Worldwide (SOCRISS-WW) 2014/2015
Delegate of the University of Calabar to the National Conference of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Asaba 2014.
Uket, Abanda was one time presidential candidate of the National Association of Cross River State Students University of Calabar Chapter (NACRISS-UCC). Also, a onetime factional electoral secretary of National Association of Cross River State Students Worldwide (NACRISS-WW).
Awards and Recognition
*Award of Meritorious service from the St. Joseph Major Seminary Ikot Ekpene in 2010
*Awarded with live membership of the Central Students Assembly of Cross River State (CENSSA-WW) in 2015
*Uket, Abanda J. is not just a unionist par excellence but also a fast rising seasoned academic. This must have brought about his being addressed by his contemporaries as de academique celebritique. 
To sustain this he has attended and presented researched papers in both international and local conferences. Among which are the:
*First Faculty of art International Conference held in the University of Calabar, Calabar in 2016, and the 
*2016 Biennial Conference of Nigerian Philosophical Association (NPA). In both conferences, he has certificate of participation to his laurels. 
Furthermore, he has publications to his credit in both international and national journals and other book chapters that gives attestation to his worth.
