DONATE LAND FOR BUILDING OF REFERAL HOSPITAL FOR AYADECARE.
Wula Community in Eastern Boki, Boki Local Government Area have donated a very large piece of land for building of referrals hospital in Boki.
This message was conveyed through the Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to the Honorable Commissioner for Health during the inspection of the current health facility in Wula and town hall meeting with the community Chiefs to identify and bring solutions to the health needs of the people of Boki in final preparation for Ayade care operationalization.
Speaking, Village Head of Wula, Otu CN Osong said why they are demanding for a hospital is because the old one at Boje, Western Boki is not functional or accessible to the people across several wards in Boki.
He said Wula people, every community in Eastern Boki and even communities in western Boki will have easy access to the facility which will be greatly utilised. The presence of doctors will encourage more people to take up Modern health care services rather than patronise TBAs and traditional homes.
The chief went further to state that the fast growing population due to accessible road network has made the community to appeal to Government to situate a Hospital in Wula which is a central community in Eastern Boki.
DG, Dr Betta Edu eulogized the community for donating a huge land space for building of a referral hospital in Wula and promised to pass the message to His Excellency, Senator ( Prof) Ben Ayade and Honorable Commissioner of Health, Dr Inyang Asibong as the Governor has made a resolved to build referal hospital in the 18 LGAs for State Health Insurance Scheme operationalization ( Ayadecare ).
She said in the immediate time the PHC Center in Wula will be renovated and new staff sent to the facility to handle it as the present staff is not capable of maintaining the current structure.
Dr Edu went further to clarify the chief on certain criteria needed to site a hospital in a community which according to her includes the client flow, data and utilization of the health center as improvement will convince the Government to see reasons on why the people of Eastern Boki need a hospital.
She said their request will be tabled to the Governor and the Honorable Commissioner for Health for necessary action but advised the community to start making use of the available health facility as it will go along way to encourage government to site a bigger structure.
Adding to what the DG said, the Board Secretary, Dr Eric Edrah reiterated that the PHC center in Wula will be renovated in no distance time but advise them to continue making use of the present facility and learn the habit of maintenance which is very essential to the development of Primary Healthcare in the State.
He advised that people should always think of what to do for the Government and not what Government will always do for them because supervision of the staff and facilities time to time by the community heads and youth leaders will help the staff and workers live up to expectations.
The Director General on arrival had visited the palace of the Clan Head with her team before heading to inspect the Wula Health Center and the land donated for building of Referal Hospital for AYADECARE.
