Professor of Law and former Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), whose services with the said tertiary institution was suspended, on the strength of allegation of rape of female law student and indecent behavior has been exonerated and recalled to resume services with the UNICAL NegroidHaven can report authoritatively. The information further says that Prof Ndifon has also been reinstated as the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University.
Ndifon, who was suspended on September, 2015 by then Vice Chancellor, Prof James Epoke by reason of a petition from his former student, was alleged to have sexually assaulted and raped his then three hundred level students Ms Simeobong Nkang. Reports have it that the professor of law sexually assaulted Ms Nkang while she was in his private office, recopying a test after her (Nkang's) initial script had been allegedly torn by the professor. This incident is said to have taken place on Saturday, August 29, 2015.
Particularly, Ndifon was suspended for tearing the test script of Ms Nkang; relocating the test venue of a single female student to his private office under the pretext of getting her to recopy a test script he had earlier torn and the allegation of sexual assault/rape against him.
Officers from Airport Road Police Station, Calabar, went to the scene six days after the report was lodged. The case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Calabar. And later to the State Police Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar. And finally an NGO, the Nigerian Feminist Group, moved the matter to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Ndifon would seek his innocence in court until a recent ruling exonerated him of any wrong doing. He has been exonerated, recalled and reinstated as Dean of law faculty. He will be making a big entrance to the Faculty todayour correspondent has learnt.
