Efio-Ita Nyok|6 December 2017

At the wake of the heat generated by the recent appointment of a Commissioner of Happiness and Couples Fulfillment by Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, controversial social commentator, Mr Joseph Odok, has revealed that, despite being a member of the ruling APC, he hates the policies of the APC Governor, Okorocha NegroidHaven has confirmed.
Odok said that, it’s because of his disdain for Okorocha’s policies, that was why he refused to honour the recent invitation of the said governor as he was billed to unveil the statute of Liberian President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

According to Odok, ‘My disapproval of Rochas made me refuse to go for his occasion of the unavailing of the status of Ellen Sirleaf of Liberia even when I was promised comfort and allowances
‘Nigerians from Cross River State, Imo State and Benue State must rise to change these underperforming government. It is not about APC or PDP but absence of governance that should bother us
‘I totally condemn the appointment of Rochas Okoracha’s sister as Commissioner for Happiness as I also condemn the conscienceless rigging of Local Government elections by the Akwa Ibom state Government’.
Recall that Mrs Ogechi Ololo the biological sister of the governor was appointed as Commissioner for Happiness and Couples Fulfillment by Okorocha of Imo State. He also appointed in 28 new commissioners and 27 Transition Committee Chairmen for the 27 local government councils in the state. He charged them to prove their worth in the service of the state and her people. One of the commissioners sworn in by the governor is his biological sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha).
Recall that Okoracha has also been in the news for the wrong reasons for especially raising numerous statutes in Imo.
See details of letter goes thus :
Dear Dr. Joe Odok,

Let me first thank you for your support and sacrifices for our dear party, the APC, and desire for a better Nigeria.

I am directed to invite you to Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Thursday through Friday or Sunday, on the invitation of his Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha, on my recommendation, as he unveils another statute of the Liberian President.

This is particularly to help control the narrative and make the public see the real essence of what the Governor is trying to achieve with this project.

It may interest you to know that the negative narrative surrounding the Visit of President Zuma & the unveiling of the statue in recognition of his service to humanity, was politically motivated, even though the state legislature empowered the governor to erect the statue.

Regrettably, the Governor was ill-prepared to counter the negative narrative as the media and social media influencers weren’t carried along.

The Imo statuary project is a product of a bill passed into law by the State Assembly which empowers the Governor to accord recognition to any individual who has distinguished himself in his service to God and humanity across the globe.

During his visit, Jacob Zuma Foundation signed a MoU with the Rochas Foundation to give free education to children in Africa, which will chiefly benefit the children of Imo state and Nigerians.

The welfare and safety of Nigerians in South Africa were also discussed with President Zuma, especially as Nigerians were being killed in some parts of his country; amongst other bilateral interests discussed.

The statuary is comprised of statues of prominent and distinguished leaders across the globe, including that of former Vice President, Chief Alex Ekweme (already unveiled), Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, amongst others.

Depending on a number of factors, our trip may extend till Saturday for a proposed tour to some project sites within and around the state capital, to take pictures, video clips and help promote same on social media.

Be rest assured that your accommodation and logistics shall be fully covered, even as we thank you in anticipation, for your support.

Will appreciate a swift response from you, as we have little or no time.

Thanks,…
