With due respect to my elder, the Mystic Ray, this is about the most disappointing thread I have read in recent times for obvious reasons :
First Inyali Peter churned out a similar stuff which I condemned in terms that may have rattled him gravely. I couldn’t forgive my friend and fellow Comrade-in-the- struggle because of the deep respect I have for him.
Now, my father has reeled out his argument wiping the same Inyalian pro-north sympathy. Even Venatius Ikem has quipped that it’s a ‘right’ for the north to have a second term in office : it’s clear this northern right is to the exclusion of other senatorial districts—how pitiable is this argument
Hmmm!
In academic circles, it’s touted that the best service to render to a researcher is —criticism, and that I am forward to do to Ray U. Morphy because I perceive him as a thinker here :
In respect of 2019, three arguments abound : Ayade should complete a second term of 4 years, another senatorial districts —South or Central, should rather be voted as Gov instead of the north, and the north should complete 8 years.
The contenders for the north says because the South and Central in Duke and Imoke respectively had 8 years, the north should; whilst the sympathisers for a second of Ayade says neither Duke nor Imoke and by extension south and central respectively faired better in their first terms, so, Ayade can’t be different. The others argument suing for either South or Central says a second term is clinched on through merit not zoning.
My stance is clear and it’s been long I took this position : I deter zoning because of the mediocrity it harbour, thus, the sympathisers for a second term of Ayade or the north know where I stand. That does not immediately translate to my exclusively endorsing the south or central for the occupant of Governor’s Office.
I endorse any credible and popular candidate from any senatorial district —North, Central or South in so far as he/she is a Cross Riverian. I even dare endorse a non Cross Riverian with residency in Cross River for credibly long time —this is, at the moment, a utopia.
My reason for this position is that we are practicing a democracy where popularity is paramount. Again, we are talking about leadership where character and capacity is sacrosanct. Let’s not reduce the high Office of Governor to a regional rendezvous —let’s talk capacity, credibility and popularity.
To say, governorship is the exclusive right of the north is troubling especially seeing that we are pandering to tribalism —seeming collective selfishness, which is the bane of our development as a country or state.
Again, when the Cross Riverians of northern indigenisation says the north should be considered, it suggests, like #Vena has observed, that you don’t have credible hands to occupy the said high Office…
Let me advise : shop for any candidate of your choosing, whether from the North, central or South —but, I prefer ‘north’ for you northern champions, package him/her to stand elections and ensure he/she wins, but, don’t come and tell us that the south and central wants to deprive you of any right.
There’s no such right anywhere —bring your northern champion, let him/her tell us how he/she will do things differently from the present occupant whom neither you nor I is proud of.
Let’s think Cross River first not Obudu or Ogoja or North or Calabar South. Let our elders bequeath authentic legacy not mediocrity.

Ray U. Morphy’s original thread which I responded to :
#On_Cross_River_Governorship 2019:
Hear me brethren,

It is the turn of competence, of capability, of bridge builders and state builders! It is not the turn of MOU or fakers!

It is the turn of home grown men and women who understand the 3 senatorial districts and what their needs are. It is the turn of those who have lived and worked within the state, not those who have no idea of the challenges of our people

It is the turn of careful men and who do not play the politics of deceit and lies. It is the turn of tested and tried individuals who want to change the current narrative from backsliding to galloping progress! We want men who can grow the state, not those who will tell us tall tales!

It is such men that Cross River State needs at this time and such men abound in the 3 senatorial districts, BUT, fair is fair, Cross River North should have the right of first refusal! Cross River North should not be discriminated against!

Granted that the current governor has made a mess of things, but, should the Northern Senatorial District be punished for the sins of one man? Should all the capable men of Northern CRS be penalised because one man has farted into the air?

Give the North a chance to redeem itself. We have the men of caliber, of character and of purpose, we have the people of faith, of truth and of clarity. For the purposes of equity, unity and brotherhood, all men of goodwill should give Cross River North a chance.

Thankfully, many strong contenders from the north have indicated interest and many more will. Paul Ada has declared, Venatius Ikem is consulting, John Upan Odey has declared, so no one can accuse us in the north of not seeking to correct the mistakes of our own brother!

But, rather than Ayade who has shown no concrete achievement in his first term continuing, let another senatorial zone take it! Even most voters in the North will not vote for him! Don’t mind all his paid entourage of Yesmen, those ones will not vote for him either.

There is a clear awareness in the North that this current government has achieved nothing other destroying the few roads we already had. Some of those roads were built by Donald and some by Liyel but our son has scattered them and built nothing in replacement!

We the North has suffered this zero governance most and we require deeply the Governorship come 2019 but rather than the incumbent, let another take! Clearly, it is only within APC that the option exists, so all who desire the good of CRS, whether of PDP or other, should vote APC when the time comes!

Na me talk am!
