The health sector has remained one of the cardinal points of every serious leader, just as the member representing Abi State Constituency has prioritized the health of his constituents.
The member who doubles as the Speaker of Cross River State house of Assembly flagged his one year long health care system tagged ' Gaulcare' which is in partnership with the famous and notable 'Ayadecare'.
This system is the first of its kind ever recorded in any of the local governments as said the Commissioner for Health CRS.
The team of medical practitioners have since the Flagg off, of Gaulcare on the 11th of April 2018 being attending to patients, the programme started in Itigidi , Abi local government headquarters where over 600 patients were attended to, ranging from simple to complex medical conditions.
Referrals were also made for conditions that could not be immediately handled to a more advanced facilities.
The chiefs were not left out as they came in their numbers to witness and get medical succor, children, women and youths all got their chances, due to the number of people in need of medical attention the House member Rt HON John Gaul Lebo, had to extend the days( life span) of the outreach from the initial few days scheduled to accommodate more people.
He reiterated his commitment for the well being of his constituents saying 'health is wealth' in an exclusive interview he granted our correspondent.
The team had been in Itigidi since Wednesday the 11th till medical succor finally got to all in need.
The team thereafter made the next move to Ekureku ward in Abi also, where they were also greeted with warm welcome from even more persons, the team had to even seek for days as well, which John Gaul gladly obliged to.
Children with unique health challenges were attended to, the 'aged' were not left out at Ekureku, as they came out in their numbers and were all attended to, our reporter in an exclusive interview with some of the patients, gathered the mix feelings of joy and praises that thrilled the day, as the people of all ages were full of praises.
A woman who has been sick for over a year but had not gotten due medical attention due to the scorching rate of poverty was attended to at no cost, her family members were full of tears of joy.
Over 500 patients in Ekureku ward were attended to as well. Making the sum total of persons attended to thus far to be at one thousand one hundred 1,100. This grand breaking number so far is just from two out of ten council wards.
The chieftains of the two wards also in an interview with our correspondents lauded the effort of Rt Hon John Gaul's initiative of bringing medical succor to their people, and gave their continuous support for all his programmes as according to the chiefs, in the different interviews, the programme of the Honourable 'is well thought'.
The youths were also elated as, one said "this medical scheme has taken me to cloud nine" as this is the first of this kind, and of this magnitude over a long time. A teenager was overwhelmed with joy and was heard praying for the Rt HON as well.
The medical team were not also left out, as they were also happy attending to patients, at a point the services of more doctors were engaged to enlarge the size of the outreach, which the Speaker expressly granted.
Other needed logistics as requested from time to time for a smooth sailing were also provided and promptly so said a senior doctor in the team, who pleaded to be anonymous because he wasn't authorized to address the press.
