The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Asu Okang has described the ‘Not too Young to Run’ bill recently signed into law as a milestone in the political history of Nigeria.
Comrade Okang while congratulating Nigerian Youths stated that the opportunity has been given to them to take up the mantle of leadership and shape their destinies themselves. He called on the Youths of Cross River State to take advantage of the plethora of opportunities availed them by the Youth friendly Governor, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade, to carve a niche for themselves politically and in all of lives endeavours.
The number one youth in the State also challenged youths to be proactive while not despising their little beginning, adding that the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is always open and ready to offer valuable guidance and encouragement to support a positive course.
The Bill alters sections of the Nigeria Constitution to allow the reduction of the age qualification for President from 40–30; Governor from 35-30; Senator from 35-30; House of Representatives from 30-25 and for State House of Assembly from 30-25.
