Proposed Gender-Based Violence (Prohibition, Prevention and Response) Byelaw, 2025 has passed the second reading on Monday at the 7th Bakassi Legislative Assembly NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
According to Leader Grace Bassey, the proposal “has been referred to the House committee on Health/Gender advocacy for consideration.”
Recall that the Assembly in February this year had proposed a new byelaw aimed at prohibiting, preventing, and responding to GBV within the local government area. The proposed Gender-Based Violence (Prohibition, Prevention, and Response) Byelaw, 2025, was presented by Hon. Prince Bassey Mkpeti, Deputy Leader of the Assembly, during plenary.
