The Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Godwin Offiono, has rolled out a massive empowerment initiative, providing financial and material support to his constituents. At the high-impact event held on Monday, the lawmaker disbursed a total of N15 million in cash to support small businesses and stimulate grassroots economic growth NEGROIDHAVEN has learnt.
Beneficiaries, carefully selected from the 24 wards of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, received valuable items including tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, rice planters, wheat reapers, and varying amounts of financial support.
In a move to promote sustainable economic growth, Hon. Offiono also launched two cooperative societies—one for each of the Local Government Areas in the constituency and equipped them with a fully functional Rice Processing Factory to be managed by the cooperative members, each situated in the LGAs respectively.
Additionally, the lawmaker supported selected entrepreneurs and farmers with cash ranging from N300,000-N1,000,000 to upscale their businesses.
Addressing the beneficiaries and attendees, Hon. Offiono congratulated them and urged them to make productive use of the items and funds received to improve their livelihoods and not to sell it for immediate gains.
He emphasized that his commitment to the people goes beyond lawmaking, in his words: “My main responsibility as a member of the House of Representatives, is to make laws, but learning from our leader, Sen. Jarigbe Agom, I understand the need to go the extra mile to empower our people. That’s the essence of today’s event, and I promise to do even more as we move forward together.”
Beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation, taking turns to thank the lawmaker for his impactful gesture and for upholding the standard of service and empowerment set by distinguished Sen. Jarigbe.
