10th C/River State House of Assembly Holds Public Hearing on Bill to Establish Diaspora Commission

A public hearing for the 2025 Bill establishing the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM) was held on Monday at the Cross River State Assembly Complex. The bill, which had passed its second reading, aims to engage Cross Riverians in the diaspora in the state’s development NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

The hearing, chaired by Hon. Abang Samuel, Member representing Ikom 1 State Constituency, discussed the bill’s provisions, including utilizing the human capital and material resources of Cross Riverians abroad for the state’s socio-economic, cultural, and political growth.

Attendees included committee members, CRIDCOM Chairman Hon. Otu Okor, principal officers of the commission, and members of the public. The recommendations from the hearing will be forwarded to the State House for further review and action.
