High Chief Edem Duke, a former Minister of Culture and Tourism and leader of Calas Vegas, the winner of the 2024 Carnival Calabar, has revealed the secret behind their success NEGROIDHAVEN can say.
High Chief Duke made this revelation in response to questions from journalists at the celebration party held on Saturday.
According to Duke, creativity played a pivotal role in their victory, “We knew that to stand out from the crowd, we had to think outside the box and come up with something truly innovative,” he explained.
Duke attributed their success to the group’s commitment to creativity, hard work, and dedication. “Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of our performance, from the costumes to the choreography, was of the highest standard,” he said.
When asked about their plans for the future, High Chief Duke revealed that Calas Vegas is already working on new projects and is looking forward to defending their title next year.
He expressed his gratitude to the state government, sponsors, and supporters of the carnival, saying, “We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our culture and talent. We look forward to continuing to promote our cultural heritage through our performances.”
To improve the Calabar Carnival, Duke on critical stakeholders on the need for early planning, engagement of more stakeholders, more marketing, publicity, creativity among others.
Dignitaries in attendance included Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, leader of the Seagull Band; state Commissioners, members of the state Assembly, and other senior government officials.
