VIO Decorates C/River Traditional Ruler as Grand Road Traffic Mayor

The traditional ruler of Ogoja in Cross River state has been decorated as Grand Road Traffic Mayor by the Cross River State Ministry of Transportation’s Vehicle Inspection Department. The Paramount Ruler of Ogoja LGA, His Royal Highness Oti Mathias Abuo, has been decorated with Grand Road Traffic Mayor NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

The Palace of His Royal Highness was agog on Friday as the State Vehicle Inspection Service, VIO performed the exercise of inauguration of the said paramount ruler.

Before performing the decoration exercise, the Director of Road Traffic Services (VIO) Engr. Dr. Paul Ugbe Bepeh who also double as National Chairman Conference of Directors Road Traffic Services (VIO) in Nigeria, observed that the recipient of the status, hence would exercise powers accrued to him to save lives on the road.

Bepeh’s words, ‘At this juncture your royal majesty, I want to let you know that the Cross River State Ministry of Transportation’s Vehicle Inspection Department has identified you as the second person to be decorated with the royal mayor in Cross River state. We have one in Abuja, we have one in Lagos, we have in Cross River the Obol Lopon of Ugep, which was done four months ago.

‘It is on that singular privilege that we deem it fit, with your humility, that there is a need for us to come and crown you with the authority of a royal mayor, the authority that gives you the right even in your car, you can still save lives with your actions, that is why we are here.’
