IMOKE, COLE AND ONOFIOK TO INSPIRE NIGERIAN YOUTHS AT THE 8TH CAREER DAY OF THE BRIDGE LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION
The 8th Edition of The Bridge Leadership Foundation Annual Career Day conference which is themed “Youths and Good Governance: The Future We Want” is set to take place on Saturday, July 14, 2018 by 8:00 am at the Calabar International Convention Centre (CICC), Calabar, Cross River State.
The 2018 Career Day would provide a framework for how youths can actively get involved in the demand and provision of good governance in a manner that ensures that the environment for youths to thrive is created, government becomes more strategic in the involvement of youths in policy and decision matters of nation building and together create a system where young people and relevant stakeholders can work towards creating THE FUTURE WE WANT.
According to the Foundation, the Career Day is an annual flagship programme. The 2018 edition will serve as one of many strategic steps by the Foundation in responding to the global clamor for youth involvement in politics and governance. The decision to focus on increased youth participation in politics and governance in an election season is a deliberate effort to ensure that conscious effort is made to enshrine equity, inclusiveness, participatory democracy and good governance in our polity. Above all, it is intended to inspire Nigerian youths to take pro-active action in creating the future they want.
Distinguished personalities and notable experts in good governance, citizen engagement, youth and enterprise development will participate and lead the discussions that will drive the 2018 Career Day Conference. Guest appearance and speakers include Senator Liyel Imoke, Founder, The Bridge Leadership Foundation, Mr. Tonye Patrick Cole, Group Managing Director, Sahara Group, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and Mrs. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, Founder RISE Networks. Other speakers include Mrs. Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri – Executive Director, Spaces for Change, Mr. Hamzat Lawal, Co-Founder/Chief Executive of Connected Development [CODE], Mr. Paul Nwulu, Program Officer, Power and Participation – Ford Foundation, Mr. Chris Ngwodo, Partner at Salem Advisory Services, Dr. Frankland Briyai – INEC REC, Cross River State and Mrs. Tolulope Adeleru-Balogun, Radio | TV Host | Media Trainer/Consultant Broadcast expert.
Every year, through the Career Day, TBLF impacts the lives of more than 3,500 youths from Cross River State and across Nigeria. Since 2011, TBLF has successfully held 7 editions of the Career Day youth conference. For the 2018 Career Day, about 5,000 youths are expected to participate physically while hundreds of thousands will join the conversation online. Attendance is free.
Youths, Innovators, government officials, policymakers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, development practitioners, and international agencies are expected to grace the occasion.
