Second Republic Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas, has endorsed the second term bid of the governor of Cross River State, Senator, Professor Ben Ayade.
The respected elder statesman hinged his support for Ayade’s re-election on what he described as the excellent performance of Professor Ayade in the last three years.
The former Senate President, specially lauded Ayade's industrialization efforts, noting the governor has done very well  and deserved all support.
Dr. Wayas listed Ayade’s achievements to include; financial empowerment for tens of thousands of Cross-Riverians through creation of employment in the public and private sectors alike; sterling personal qualities of human kindness, honesty and ability to stay on course among others.
Wayas, who spoke recently  wondered how the governor was able to achieve all he has done bearing in mind paucity of funds with dwindling revenue from both the federal allocation and internally occasioned by the loss of offshore oil wells to Akwa-Ibom state.
Dr. Wayas stated that projects such as the Rice City,  Ogoja Rice Mill,Calabar Garment factory,Ikom cocoa factory and Calabar Pharmaceutical cost hundreds of billions of naira.
In his opinion, all that, with agencies like the Green Sherriff and Homeland Security with the thousands of political aides employed by the governor takes only a miracle to achieve in times like this.
The former Senate President who is one of the few politicians of high character around called on all Cross-Riverians to rally round the governor and vote overwhelmingly for him in the 2019 governorship so that the good work could be taken to a higher level.
Wayas expressed surprise that anybody would dare to contest against the governor wondering what they could have done better.
"my decision to support the governor's second term in office is not a hard decision to make because Ayade has demonstrated ample commitment to moving the state forward and it is only sane to identify with such lofty goals. He has done very well and clearly needs another term in office to accomplish more" he added
