The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke has during the week commissioned a huge organogram erected at the entrance to the school of post graduate studies, University of Calabar.
The organogram, sponsored by Akwa Ibom Graduate Students Association (AKWAGRASSA), UNICAL chapter, was to commemorate the 6th Senate's Public Lecture of Post Graduate Students Government, titled, ''The Future of Leadership and the Role of Legislature''.
Speaking shortly before performing the ceremony, Rt. Hon. Luke commended Akwa Ibom Graduate Students Association for coming up with such a laudable project, stating that the organogram will make it easier for visitors to the university to get vital information about administrative hierarchy and location of offices in the post graduate school, thereby saving one time and stress.
Rt. Hon. Luke who was represented by the speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, charged the students to be diligent in their studies, while describing post graduate studies as one that require dedication and commitment to consistent research and innovations that will proffer solutions to contemporary problems in the society.
Speaking further, he described Akwa Ibom Students as worthy ambassadors of their state who are making positive contributions in whichever environment they find themselves, saying the governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is always proud of them and will give them necessary support to enable them succeed in their academic endeavours.
Reacting, the president of Akwa Ibom Graduate Students Association, Unical chapter, Comr. Akpan Daniel, expressed gratitude to Rt. Hon. Luke for coming from as far as Akwa Ibom State to performed the ceremony, despite his tight engagements. He said that this is a clear demonstration of the importance
the administration of governor Udom Emmanuel places on students.
He also thanked the speaker for the continuous support given to Akwa Ibom students, which Comr. Akpan noted has encouraged more students to read further.
He therefore pledged the students continuous support to governor Udom Emmanuel's administration to keep on the good works started so far in the state.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Luke and his Cross River State counterpart had jointly donated the sum of N500,000 during the launch of post graduate students 6th Senate 2016/2017 Almanac, which was unveiled by the dean of post graduate school, Prof. Arikpo B. Arikpo.
