In a bid to further strengthen the surveillance activities of health workers in the state, the Cross River State government in collaboration with the World Health Organization has concluded a two day training workshop Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers (DSNOs) and their assistants on acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) and Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) and Documentation for Certification in the State.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, charged the DSNOs and their Assistants to be proactive, utilize their skills and translate the efforts of the State Government in capacity building into results.
‘We need you to achieve results, we need you to grasp every bit of this training workshop, we need you to utilize these skills, and we need you to reduce the lapses. To whom much is give; much is expected, which is why the State Government and the WHO are giving you everything to make you comfortable during this training so that you can achieve results.’ She said.
The DG SPHCDA, Dr. Betta Edu, who was represented by Mrs. Affiong Eborty, the IMCI State coordinator, hammered on the need for correspondence of on-field activities to the Agency, while the director of Public Health in the Ministry, Dr. Iwara Iwara enjoined them to give their best in improving activities in the State.
The training was anchored by the WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Thompson Igbu, saw the group unanimously thanked the organizers of the training and promised to give their best moving forward.
