I choose this title for my latest research report due to its astonishing findings.
I am gradually adopting research as a hobby lately.
In a recently concluded 12 week descriptive survey I conducted to examine and reveal which name is most commonly bear among female within the age range of 15 to 25 in Calabar, Cross River State, the name, BLESSING has the highest rate of occurrence.
The study randomly sampled 3,900 respondents from the target population, that is, girls from age 15 to 25 in 30 locations (major streets) in Calabar South and Calabar Municipal respectively. In every 10 samples taken at a given location, a minimum average of 3 was obtained, bearing the name, Blessing.
Data analysis established a correlation between religion as a significant factor that influences the choice of naming children in Calabar.
In comparing the rate at which the name, Blessing occurs in each location, data obtained from the study showed significant decrees in highbrow areas reputed to be where the well-to-do people reside as against high rate of occurrence in locations mostly occupy by low income earners.
The result was interpreted thus:
1. Blessing is a name most common among young girls in Calabar.
2. The name is much more common among people from low socio-economic background.
3. The name is given out of religious consideration.
4. Poor people tend to be more religious than the rich.
The research was carried out purely for educational and informative purposes without any bias whatsoever.
