With the consistent reduction of Malaria deaths in the State, the Cross River State Government in conjunction with the USAID has concluded arrangements for the Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) Continuous Distribution with a refresher course for RMBO and the simultaneous training of Facility Heads and Head Teachers in every ward across the eighteen LGAs of the State.
The training which was organized under the auspices of Global Health Supply Chain Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) was aimed at refreshing the knowledge of both the Roll Back Malaria Officers (RMBO), Facility Heads and Head Teachers saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the forthcoming stand-alone LLINs distribution campaign in the State.
In his remarks, the Director of Public Health in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Iwara Iwara, urged the officers to be very professional in their duties especially as it concerns the generation, management and distribution of both LLINs and Malaria indices data in the State. He charged the representatives from the State Ministry of Education on the need to be headstrong if they're to record success in the School-based LLINs distribution system.
Meanwhile the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong, has lauded the State health team for taking the awareness and sensitization campaign to the nooks and crannies of the State whilst calling on parents and guardians to make proper utilization of the LLINs for effective results, adding that the nets form part of the Government's efforts to further reduce the prevalence of Malaria infection in the State.
The event ended with the distribution of nets and the development of the model design for the distribution which is to be carried simultaneously as well across all the eighteen LGAs in the State.
The GHSC-PSM is involved in the continuous distribution of LLINs through the four channels of antenatal care visits, Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) clinics, and community and school-based LLIN distribution.
