Gov’s wife commissions PHC agency, MDF offices; donates drugs worth millions

The Wife of Cross River State Governor, Her Excellency, Dr Linda Ayade yesterday 18th October, 2017 commissioned Mediatrix Development Foundation and Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency office at former Saint Margaret Hospital (UCTH) complex, Moore Road, Calabar NegroidHaven has learnt.
She also used the opportunity to donates drugs to primary healthcare centres across the State as one of  her foundation's many support to the revitalization of primary healthcare in Cross River.
She thanked the development partners that have made sundry contributions within the short space of time; CUSO International, FHI360, UNICEF, UNFPA and Pathfinders International.
According to her, MDF was formalized to channel health and development interventions addressing needs of the vulnerable and less privileged in Cross River.
Dr Ayade said the official opening of Mediatrix Development Foundation office will aid the team to have a better environment to work and produce far better result in delivery of the four thematic areas of intervention in which health is key. 
She lauded the DG of Primary healthcare for her effort in achieving primary healthcare in the state under one roof.
Finally she said with the complex housing Mediatrix and the Agency together both organization will be working in pari-pasu.
The Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly,  Rt. Hon John Gaul Lebo in his Goodwill message said the House will continue their holistic support to the Cross River State Health Sector by ensuring there is legislative cover for all PHC activities in the state while House Committee Chairman on Health, Hon. Dr. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey added that there is no going back on primary healthcare under one roof as he lauded the wife of the Governor as a caring, elegant, good listener and a woman with a good heart.
Also Speaking, Dr Inyang Asibong, the Honourable Commissioner for Health said everything is moving in the health sector courtesy of the effort of three wise women of Cross River State Health Sector lead by her Excellency, Dr Linda Ayade and the support of supersonic digital Governor whose major concern is the welfare of the people across the state which healthcare is inclusive.
Earlier Speaking, the DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu said the opening of the offices signified greater things coming in the primary healthcare system
She said the Agency came to existence due to the passion of His Excellency, Senator ( Prof) Ben Ayade to ensure the well being of his people as he accented to the bill for the establishment of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency signed.
She noted that recently the Nigerian Governors Forum had adjudged Cross River State Primary Healthcare as one of the best in the country.
Dr Edu listed several strides of His Excellency including prompt payment of workers salaries on time.
Goodwill message was given by the Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mrs Stella Odey who led the Cross River State Women for Empowerment (CROWEI), Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Mr Eric Anderson, Managing Director of CRSWBL, Mr Godwin Igile, the Permanent Secretaries of CRSMOH, CRSPHCDA, Dr Joseph Bassey and Mr Echeghe Mark Oma, Board Secretary CRSPHCDA, Dr Eric Edrah, CMD of UCTCH, Prof Thomas Agan, Representatives of Development Partners; State Coordinator of WHO, Dr Tom Igbu, Pathfinders International, UNICEF, FHI360, UNFPA, HFG, LOPIN3, Director PHC, Dr Ana Onebiene and Members of Medical and Community Health Union team Linda, banks amongst others.
