The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has inaugurated a State Executive Council in Cross River State NegroidHaven can report authoritatively with Comr Castro Ezama being the State Chairman in acting capacity.
This took place on Saturday 16th September 2017 at Calabar, Cross River capital at Transcorp Hotels during her formal Unveiling of YPP.
In an interview with NegroidHaven shortly after the inauguration, Comr Ezama said that he was very happy observing that he felt very challenged while noting that it was a clarion call for youths in Cross River. He noted that there’s a profound work to be done politics wise in the state.
His words, ‘I feel very elated; again, I feel very challenged because this is a clarion call and a wake up call for youths of Cross River State. We have a very big job to do in terms of politics in Cross River.

‘I think the greatest challenge we have in Cross River State is there’s no blue print. You will agree with me that administrations that have come in and even the existing one, seems to do something different. They come with different visions but, Cross River State needs a blueprint.

‘First, as members of this great party, we need to go round and know what exactly what our people need, and we should be able to put up a blueprint that represents their needs and aspirations. When we do this and call a stakeholders conference, that will actually help in putting up a big and better Cross River State’, he said.

Politics hinged on social democratic principles
On his part, the National Chairman of the YPP, Comr Bishop Amakiri, who was present at the unveiling ceremony noted that he had come to introduce YPP to Nigerians in Cross River. He explained that his party is founded on social democratic principles.
According to him, ‘We must give people a kind of avenue to express what democracy is all about. We are not capitalists, we are socialists;
‘When you talk about social democratic principles we are talking about a society that will continue to enjoy what we call social service to humanity with the actual resources available to them and whatever levies they have paid as taxpayers, they should enjoy, of course, what tax they have paid to the government. It’s high time that we begin to render service to humanity’.
When asked what YPP would be doing differently from existing political parties, Comr Amakiri observed that existing political parties practiced politics of impunity, imposition, etc. He informed that for now, it’s only his party for now who is preaching the voting system called Option A4 Formula. He said that the YPP believes in such a process that gives power to the people particularly stressing a departure from the PDP.
