SA Student Affairs and Youth Mobilization to Gov Ayade, Michael Abuo woos Japanese gov’t for education intervention

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Student Affairs and Youth Mobilization, Tuesday, 5th September, 2017 led a state delegation comprising of Mr Charles Eyong, Permanent Secretary of Cross River State Liason Office-Abuja and Mr Temitope Adeniyi, representative of Prof Angba of the Institute of Management Technology, Ugep to a meeting at the Japanese Embassy in Abuja with the Ambassador.
The meeting was sequel to a request from the S.A's office seeking for audience and intervention in terms of grants for boosting educational infrastructures in the state, scholarships and exchange programs in the state etc.
The meeting held at the Embassy with Mr Hideki Sakamoto, the Embassy's First Secretary representing the Japanese Ambassador and Mr John Chukwuma, the Information Officer of the Embassy in attendance.
The First Secetary, Mr Sakamoto intimated the team of scholarship/ exchange opportunities available on a yearly basis which students/teachers of the state can key into thus: 
1. Scholarship for research students(post graduates students, who wish to conduct research in Japan for PHD/masters degrees).
 2. Scholarship for undergraduate students(students who wish to continue  their studies in Japanese universities for undergraduate degrees) 
3. Scholarship for college of technology students (students  who wish to study in Japan as students at a college  of technology, mechanical/Electronic Engineering, etc) 
4. Specialised training for college students(for students who wish to study in Japan as a student at a specialised training college in technology, business, fashion, culture, etc)
5. The exchange program for teachers which is an intensive One Year Six Months intensive training programme is a non degree programme, basically for teachers of primary and secondary schools.
According to SA Abuo, 'in terms of grants they gave to Cross River, details to access the Grass Root Grant Projects to the tune of a hundred thousand dollars per entry and directed the team to the Office of National Planning for Millions of Dollars in grants depending on our area of need.
'As a follow up on a request for cultural and business exchange the First Secretary assured our team of the Ambassador's visit to the State to meet with the Governor of Cross River State in October, 2017 for a deepened partnership', he continued.
The meeting came to a close after a documentary about the Japanese educational system was played, Mr Charles Eyong gave a vote of thanks and sourvenirs were exchanged. Japan is one of the world's technologically advanced nation in the world, with one of the best economy in the world.
