Canadian-based academic, Obasesam Okoi, may have been indirectly taking subtle jabs at Agba Jalingo, publisher of online newspaper in respect of the latter's endorsement of the ongoing military Exercise Egwu Eke II popularly called Python Dance II NegroidHaven can say. Okoi's particular reference to the word —activist, in his commentary, may have given him up as to who his thread was directed at albeit indirectly.
Wednesday, Mr Okoi queried thus concerning the ongoing military exercise at the South East of the country: 'I see people jubilating over the killing of the Ibo and even praising the soldiers who committed the act of atrocious cruelty we've been reading and watching.
'How could the state order the killing of people it swore to protect and you applaud such tyranny? And then you call yourself an activist? Where is your humanity? Where is your conscience? The human heart is truly evil'.
On Wednesday, Mr Jalingo has expressed his satisfaction with the reptile dance that the military was demonstrating at the South East. See how he endorsed it: 'Python Is Dancing. I like The Dance. Go and preach your military should have done this and that elsewhere.
'Let the python dance. We have seen Harbin Kunama. We have seen crocodile smile. We have seen lafia dole. We have seen gama aiki Etc.Now, let the python dance dance and dance!'
According to reports, the military exercise is to be conducted in 82 Division Area of Responsibility covering the five states of the South-East, and will last from 15 September to 14 October.
Python Dance II aims at addressing the rampancy of assassinations, attack on security personnel, theft of weapons, violent agitations, armed banditry, and kidnapping.
At least, one person has been confirmed dead because of the operation. Video footages show the abuse of Nigerians in the south east by the military. There are unprofessional statement allegedly credited to the military, etc.
Is this what publisher Jalingo is endorsing? Is this the dance he is nodding to in condemnable admiration?
