Recent events in the metropolis seems to suggest the opposite for the establishment of the Homeland Security.
Just few weeks ago Joe Odok was attacked and the director of Homeland was fingered. The issue has not even died down only for Joe Odok to post yet again that the same director is boosting that the Governor has hired a SAN to defend the embattled director.
Whether this is true is what I do not know, but recent events seem to suggest that things of these magnitude abound every where.
What is even more surprising is the activities of the acclaimed Homeland Security outfit. While driving through Barracks road, about three of the Homeland Security cars where spotted creating an impasse as they attempted to barricade a delivery van.
I can beat my chest and say that if it is wood the van was carrying which seems very likely, they did not impound the vehicle but only demanded an offering. Hmmmm!
Least I forget, while I contemplated on what the outcome will be with the driver. I got a reliable information that demanding for bribe is now their stock in trade. Their activities in Ekorinim is a case in point. Keke Napep, taxis and all road users are subjected to all manners of obnoxious demands. The saddening prospect is the stipulated fee demanded from commuters with the least paying #100 (one hundred Naira)
This is similar to all places mostly having little cover outside the main metropolis.
Is the situation different in other checkpoints and road blocks? It is better experienced than told.
If the Governor have attempted to do something positive as alleged by his appointees in the glorified Tailoring Shop and the said Homeland Security outfit. They should not also destroy the very and the over glorified things that they have done.
Just a candid advice.
