As the saying goes; sometimes you do not know how well you are performing until you are rated by others. At the last concluded Governors forum in Abuja, where the Governor Ben Ayade was ably represented by his Deputy, Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu, presentations were made concerning various issues across the country to all Governors. One of those presentations was on Primary Health Care.
The presenter whom the Deputy Governor Identified as the Boss of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency praised Cross River State for it's commitment to health. Stating clearly that Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency; although one of the youngest in the country is taking the Lead above all other Agencies in the country.
He further went on to commend the Deputy Governor Prof Ivara ESU for chairing the immunization quarterly meetings, praised them for renovations and building of many Primary Health centers as well as improving on capacity of staff to deliver quality health care.
He lauded the tenacity of the Director General (Executive Secretary) of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu; noting that she is a rare breed with a capacity that is second to none. Her young age doesn't do justice to the tenacity capacity and passion in her to deliver. In his presentation he appreciated the state ministry of health and the Commissioner For Health for their support to the young agency. He called on the State and the entire health team to stay focused on the direction they are headed in the health sector as this would lead to improved Immunisation, reduction in maternal mortality and improved health delivery.
The proud and happy Deputy Governor who became the envy of the meeting, of course gave his report to his Boss! Bravo Cross River State Health team! Excellent recommendations!
