Health Summit : A lot has been done by CRSG to revitalize Pri Healthcare in the state —Dr Betta Edu

Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, during the Cross River State Health Summit day one panel discussion on Policy Driven Coordination for Improved Health System in Cross River State and Implementing the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Multi Year Operational Plan ( MYOP) towards PHC revitalization in Cross River State stated that the Governor, Senator Ben Ayade is very potent and have a strong political will to implement any health programs in the State.
She noted that a lot of reforms have been ongoing in Cross River State courtesy of the proactive governor  and support of state House of Assembly as the law to create the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and State Health Insurance Scheme was pass in the house.
According to her, the State Ministry of Health has been so supportive to the restructuring of the health system with a better coordination as before the Primary Health System was poorly coordinated with duplication and wastage. She noted that after the restructuring, Primary Healthcare came under one roof with pay point of health workers move to the Agency in line with polices working closely with MLGA and other stakeholders. 
She also gave insight on the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Multi-Year Operational Plan, Dr Edu said it overall objective is to provide strategic guidance to bring Primary Health Care into a single implementing framework as these stem on the need to revitalize primary healthcare delivery to ensure that services are equitable, quality and affordable healthcare to majority resident of the State. 
According to her, the MYOP will create and sustain an enabling environment for the implementation of the Primary Healthcare under one roof (PHCUOR) and effective human resources management for effective provision of PHC services amongst other benefit.
Finally, Dr Edu said the government have implemented the employment of midwives and as soon as the school of Nursing and Midwifery produce graduates, the state will engage more.
Meanwhile the Honorable Minister of Health on arrival was taken round to inspect the Calabar Pharmaceutical Company, Foundation laying Ceremony of the AYADECARE Specialist Hospital, Unveiling of the Model of AYADE Referal Specialist Hospital, Visit to Obstetrics Fistula Repair Center and Maternal ward at General Hospital and symbolic tree planting.
