Nigeria's teen actress just turned producer, Esther Bassey Isemin, known in the Nigerian film scene as Esther-Whyte, at the weekend recorded another great outing in Lagos; not for being at the frontiers of cameras for a new film, but this time in the spotlight of being honoured as Nigeria's 'Choice Upcoming Actress' for the year 2017.
She clinched the award at the sixth Nigeria's Teen Choice Awards held at Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos – Nigeria.
At the event, the teen actress could not hold back her joy as she walked down the isle dashing smiles generously as she climbed down from receiving the award. what seemed improbable for at the moment was grapple to keep her Cinderella-look flair gown intact – a gown donation specifically for the event by celebraty fashion designers, Zaga Originz.
With a history of participating in over 21 films since age 10, and still pushing on this award can only be by dint of exerting years of hard work.
Esther-Whyte's filmography spans from playing roles as a student in Half of Yellow Sun; commissioner's daughter in Shan George's One Good Man; orphan in Behind the Melody; Nsi in GOOD PEOPLE, GREAT NATION TV soap; Asandia in ASANDIA; idol celebrity in GREY SHADOWS and many others.
With her rather too lofty dreams, the Nollywood Cinderella only last year at age 16 launched into film making scene as first teen producer in the film industry of Nigeria with her first movie titled ERA OF ERRORS, a movie project that proved so daunting for her that she was forced to quit acting for a year to work at a bookstore to be able to finance the project.
But this will not be the first time Esther-Whyte will dazzle the spotlight with awards; penultimate of which was Most Outstanding Teen in Cross River State 2016 by the organisers of Mr/Miss Teen Havilah South South, which was like a home coming to her state Cross River.
